I used to be 25lbs overweight when I moved to Houston. After the stress of graduate school combined with a new job where I would go out every day for lunch, the weight started to creep up. I wasn't as active as I usually was and I was overeating plus my metabolism was slowing down as I was fast approaching 40.
I realized I had to do something about it as it was affecting my health and my mood and it was uncomfortable. Luckily as an exercise physiologist, I knew what worked for my clients in the past however I had never been on a diet and I still don't believe in diets to this day. I cleaned up my diet and cut out processed food and refined sugar and alcohol and many foods that cause inflammation combined with a vigorous exercise program and managed to lose it all and keep it off.
For years I had been telling people what they should do to lose weight, get stronger, increase their energy, improve their sleep, improve their mood, or whatever their goal was. The advice was good but there was no follow-through or accountability. Most people were enthusiastic at the start of any program but as soon as that enthusiasm wore off after the first couple of weeks they would fall by the wayside and stop their new routine and not get the results they wanted. This was very frustrating for them and for me as it wasn’t fulfilling. I like to help people get the results they want. This went on for years until I learned a few strategies and techniques that increased the likelihood of success and felt so much more rewarding.
What was different this time was the accountability from my wife along with other coaches I worked with to help me stay on track and follow through like I never did in the past. I had tried and failed multiple times before but I believe that knowing what we should do to lose weight is not enough. You have to have a big enough why first of all. You need to be self-motivated or if you're not self-motivated then you need an accountability partner to hold you to your goals and action steps each week. So you need the right system, support, and accountability to be successful in your weight loss journey. This is what I will provide for you in this program so that you will follow through like never before.
